Mirmillones
Another common type of gladiator was the Mirmillones. Their main distinction was the fish or aquatic symbol on the helmet. They also wore a manica which is a type of guard that protected the arm. The sword that they used was the gladius which was commonly used in the Roman Military. Their shields were special because they were oblong/oval shields that were Gallic, characteristics from Gaul. Their enemy of choice was the Hoplomachi or the Thraces.
